The New Caledonian Giant Gecko (Rhacodactylus leachianus), often referred to as the “Leachie”, is the world’s largest living gecko species. Native to the forests of New Caledonia, these remarkable geckos are highly sought after for their impressive size, unique vocalisations, and beautiful patterns that vary between localities.

Leachies are primarily nocturnal and thrive in a vertically oriented, well-decorated enclosure with plenty of climbing opportunities and hiding places. They have a calm, inquisitive nature, making them a rewarding species for experienced reptile keepers. Their diet consists mainly of commercially prepared crested gecko diets, supplemented with appropriately sized insects as an occasional treat.
